This guide outlines the steps required to provision an API key in Canvas LMS specifically for Integrevise integration.
Step 1: Access the Canvas Admin Console
Log in with an administrator account in your Canvas instance. From the left navigation panel, select Admin.
Choose the institutional account (e.g., University of Integrivise) where Integrevise will be connected.
Step 2: Navigate to Developer Keys
From the admin account view, locate the Developer Keys option in the left-hand menu.
This section allows you to manage existing keys and register new ones required by integrations such as Integrevise.
Step 3: Register a New API Key
Click the + Developer Key button at the top right. Select API Key from the dropdown list.
This option is required for enabling the secure exchange of data between Canvas and Integrevise.
Step 4: Configure the API Key for Integrevise
When prompted, complete the configuration form:
- Key Name – Use a descriptive name such as Integrevise API Key.
- Owner Email – Enter the IT operations or integrations team email (e.g., operations@youruniversity.edu).
- Redirect URIs – Leave blank unless specifically provided by Integrevise for OAuth workflows.
Click Save Key to register the configuration.
Step 5: Enable and Secure the Key
By default, the key will be inactive. Activate it by toggling the State switch (green checkmark).
Once active, click Show Key to view the generated API key string.

Step 6: Share with Integrevise
Send the API key securely (e.g., via encrypted channel or password manager sharing feature) to your Integrevise technical contact. Integrevise will configure the integration to:
