Setting Up LTI Integration Between Canvas LMS and Integrevise

Guides
3 min read

The integration between Integrevise and Canvas LMS is based on the LTI (Learning Tools Interoperability) standard. This allows secure communication and ensures that tutors and students can seamlessly access Integrevise directly from Canvas.

Integrevise will provide a JSON configuration file containing all the necessary settings for the LTI tool. Administrators can import this JSON for quick setup. However, if preferred, they may also configure the settings manually.

The only information Integrevise will need from the institution is:

  • Client ID
  • Platform Issuer

Step 1: Access the Admin Console

Log in to Canvas with an administrator account. From the global navigation panel, select Admin, and then choose the account where you want to configure Integrevise.

Select Account

Step 2: Go to Developer Keys

From the account navigation menu, select Developer Keys.

Step 3: Create a New LTI Key

Click on + Developer Key and select LTI Key.

You will then have two options for configuration:

  • Import JSON (Recommended): Upload the JSON provided by Integrevise for automatic configuration.
  • Manual Setup (Optional): Enter the configuration details yourself. Integrevise can provide the required values if you choose this route.

Once saved, Canvas will generate a Client ID for this tool.

Step 4: Install the App Using the Client ID

After creating the LTI key, you need to install the app in Canvas so that it is available for tutors and students.

From the Admin navigation, select Settings.

4.2 Go to the Apps Tab

Inside settings, click on the Apps tab.

4.3 Add a New App by Client ID

Click on + App.
Select the option By Client ID.

Select Client ID

4.4 Enter the Client ID

Paste in the Client ID that was generated in Step 3, then click Submit.

Enter Client Id

4.5 Confirm Installation

Canvas will fetch the configuration and display the Integrevise app. Click Install to complete the setup.

Step 5: Provide Details to Integrevise

After the app is installed, share the following with Integrevise:

  • Client ID – generated during LTI key creation.
  • Platform Issuer – the unique identifier of your Canvas instance (usually your Canvas domain).

This is all Integrevise needs to finalize the integration.

Conclusion

By registering an LTI key and installing Integrevise as an app in Canvas, administrators enable secure, standards-based integration. The JSON file provided by Integrevise makes setup simple, while the manual option allows flexibility. With only the Client ID and Platform Issuer required, the process is efficient, reliable, and straightforward.
